A&M-Victoria softball gives back at Night to Shine Event
On Friday, Feb. 13, members of the Texas A&M University-Victoria softball team helped make dreams come true.
The Jaguars volunteered their time for Night to Shine, a prom put on by the Tim Tebow Foundation worldwide for children 14 and older with special needs. On this one night, churches from around the world host Night to Shine for honored guests with the support of over 200,000 volunteers every year.
The event was held at Victoria East High School and head coach Lindsey Ortiz feels volunteer opportunities like this one are essential to athletics.
"Night to Shine reflects what our program stands for — serving others with humility and heart," Ortiz said. "Community service is essential to who we are and how we develop our players, teaching our athletes that leadership and impact extend far beyond the field."
